Abstract

In the digital age, the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology is reshaping the landscape of Chinese journalism education. Research indicates that the integration of AI technology not only accelerates innovation in Chinese journalism education but also challenges traditional educational models. The core objective of this study is to conduct an in-depth analysis of the application of generative AI technology in Chinese journalism education and to explore its specific impact on educational practices and curriculum design, thereby proposing innovative pathways for curriculum innovation and ethical adaptation. This paper employs a mixed-methods approach, combining a literature review with case study analysis of leading institutions like Communication University of China, to integrate theory with practice. It provides adaptive transformation strategies for journalism education and charts AI-integrated practice modules aimed at cultivating journalism and communication professionals who are adept at operating within the digital age in China. Furthermore, this study explores how to maintain the professionalism and cutting-edge nature of journalism and communication practice education amid this transformation while addressing ethical dilemmas such as algorithmic bias and privacy concerns. It addresses the modern reconstruction of educational content and skill development to ensure that pedagogy remains relevant and forward-looking. These explorations hold significant importance for current and future Chinese journalism education, assisting journalism educators in comprehending the potential and challenges of AI technology in education and balancing technological efficiency with humanistic values, enabling the development of more effective educational strategies.
